Wild Kingdom (or, Sometimes We See Lynx – or Bobcats – Walking Around and Sometimes They Stop and Stare at Us as If We Might Make a Tasty Dinner)

Yesterday, at dusk, Ayin spied a wildcat (Lynx) in the backyard. It ducked around the corner before I could see it, so we went out front, and there it was.

The odd thing was, it didn’t run away (or saunter away, as the wildcats tend to do). It stood there, about five feet away, and stared at us.

For a long time.

I’ve seen plenty of wildlife around here, but it’s pretty unusual that they will meet your gaze. It was really something staring into that cat’s eyes. A powerful moment, for sure.

Wow!
