Kamala Harris didn’t fail to win the presidential election; America just failed to stop sucking for five minutes so she could be elected. And now it probably won’t stop sucking for some time.
But watch out; the pendulum swings, baby! It’s just a matter of time. I mean, I’ve been waiting a long time for better to come—45 or 50 years—but they say patience is a virtue. I think they say that to keep us from rising up against the ruling class and burning down their country, but perhaps that’s a cynical outlook.
It’s true, though, things can really seem dire after these elections ushering knuckle-dragging rape apes into power, but we’ve survived them before, and we’ll survive this particular lumpy human-shaped mound of donkey shit.
I’m reminded of the song Mountain Song written by Trevy Felix.
Today, we’re standing in the shadow of a hill
Tomorrow will see us at the top
Can’t slow down now
‘Cause when we get there
We’re never coming down
A song of struggle from another person and another time. He sure didn’t write it about me or my life, but I still take solace in the idea and intent of the song. Today, the mountain looks imposing and impossible. It’s blocking the sun. But tomorrow (figuratively speaking), we’ll be at the top, and when we reach the summit, nothing or no one is going to be able to remove us.
I feel that.
Now, I just have to believe it.
(If I’d described anyone to Trevy as a “lumpy human-shaped mound of donkey shit,” he probably would have admonished me. “Maaan…why would you say something like that?” But he didn’t live to see president donkey shit, so I like to think if he had, he would have agreed. Destroy Babylon!)
